  • 12 oz canned chickpeas (drained)
  • 1 tsp ground cumin
  • 1/2 tsp freshly ground black pepper
  • 1 tsp sea salt
  • 2 green onions (minced)
  • 2 cloves garlic (minced)
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or chickpea flour)
  • 1 egg
  • 1/4 cup grapeseed oil (for frying)
  • 1/2 cup Greek yogurt (or sour cream)
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (from 1/2 lemon)
  • 2 tbsp fresh dill (minced)
  • 1 clove garlic (minced)
  • 1 tsp sea salt

Instructions

  1. Drain and pat dry the chickpeas. Mash them in a large bowl until coarse.
  2. Add cumin, minced green onions, garlic, flour, egg, salt, and pepper. Mix until well combined.
  3. Heat grapeseed oil in a frying pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Shape the mixture into patties and fry each side for about 3–4 minutes until golden brown.
  5. Transfer to a wire rack to drain excess oil.
  6. For the yogurt sauce, mix together yogurt, lemon juice, dill, and garlic in a bowl.
  7. Serve warm with the yogurt sauce.
