Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 sheets of phyllo dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup semolina flour
  • 3 large eggs
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups whole milk
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • Pinch of salt
  • 1/2 cup honey, warmed
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds, toasted

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Layer one sheet of phyllo in the dish and brush generously with melted butter. Repeat until you have seven layers.
  3. In a bowl, whisk together semolina, eggs, sugar, milk, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt until smooth. Pour over the phyllo base.
  4. Top with one last sheet of phyllo dough, brushing with butter between layers. Score the top lightly for steam to escape.
  5. Bake for 40–45 minutes until golden brown. Allow to cool for about 10 minutes.
  6. Drizzle warm honey over the pie and sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds before slicing and serving.
