  • 1/3 cup sugar (70g)
  • 3 3/4 cups all-purpose flour (490g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1.5 teaspoons salt
  • 6 tablespoons unsalted butter (85g), softened
  • 1/4 cup salted butter (57g), melted for brushing
  • 23 garlic cloves, finely chopped
  • Fresh parsley for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine warm milk and yeast. Let it sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add sugar, flour, egg, salt, and softened butter to the yeast mixture. Stir until a shaggy dough forms.
  3. Knead on a floured surface for about 15 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  4. Place in an oiled bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and let rise in a warm spot for about 90 minutes or until doubled in size.
  5. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 pieces; shape into balls.
  6. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet; brush with egg wash and let rise again for 30-45 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-22 minutes until golden brown.
  8. In a saucepan, melt salted butter with minced garlic; brush over hot rolls.
