  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chocolate chunks
  • 11 oz soft caramels or caramel bits
  • 2 tablespoons heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in eggs one at a time, then stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually mix in the dry ingredients until just combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips and chunks gently.
  7. Press two-thirds of the dough into the prepared pan as the base layer.
  8. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt caramels with heavy cream until smooth.
  9. Pour the melted caramel over the pressed dough evenly.
  10. Drop spoonfuls of remaining dough over the caramel layer and gently spread it out.
  11. Bake for about 25–30 minutes until golden brown on top.
  12. Allow to cool completely before slicing into squares.
